Adding to your Bucket!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to post this up, i found it very interesting...I found it on Lance Armstrong's site, called, www.livestrong.com. Not to be confusing, but really, diet and exercise are two separate things, just as Chiropractic is separate from each one of those. Sometimes I hear, "Well, i exercise, so i don't need to see a Chiropractor...WRONG!"

Health works like a bucket, for each good thing you do to help your body, such as getting adjusted regularly, eating a clean balanced diet, exercising, these things add to your bucket, and keep it full. That's good!

In the opposite, we have drinking beer, eating Twinkies, and taking medications (which only cover up symptoms and do nothing for the problem) and these things take away from your bucket...however, below are some things that "add" to your bucket...

Your metabolism is the rate at which your body burns calories. According to the Mayo Clinic, how fast yours works depends on genetics, gender--men tend to have faster metabolisms than women--and your age. There isn’t a lot you can do to change any of these factors, but there are some natural and easy ways to give your metabolism either a temporary or more long-term boost.
Step 1

Break the fast. You’ve probably heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and, when it comes to boosting your metabolism, it’s true. By morning--after quite a few hours of not eating--your body is running low on fuel and is operating in starvation mode. This means it has slowed down the processes that burn calories, such as digestion, so it can save energy to keep you alive, says the Mayo Clinic. A healthy breakfast is the kick-start your body needs to get the metabolism back up to speed and reassure your system that fuel is in plentiful supply. For the same reason, try not to go for long periods of time without eating during the day. Eating small portions of food, or healthy snacks, regularly ensures your body has a constant source of energy and keeps your metabolism in a continuous working state, says WebMD.com.

Step 2

Put more protein on your plate. It takes around double the amount of energy for your body to digest protein as it does to process carbohydrates, says WebMD. So to keep your metabolism working and burning those calories, ensure your diet includes protein-packed foods, such as lean meat, fish, tofu, nuts and beans. However, be sure to maintain a balance of healthy carbs too.

Step 3

Lift weights. According to WebMD.com, every pound of muscle in your body uses about six calories a day, whereas one pound of fat burns two calories a day. So, by building your muscles through weight training, and reducing body fat, you can speed up your metabolism. MedicineNet.com advises speaking to your doctor before taking on a new weights program; to get maximum results, have a personal trainer create a weights workout specifically for you.

Step 4

Spice things up. If you’ve ever had a mouthful of chili, you’ll know how hard you have to work to cool your mouth down. According to WebMD, your metabolism is working just as hard on the inside to combat the chemical compounds in hot foods that raise your body temperature. And while WebMD says that the effects of a curry or fajita may only be temporary, regularly adding some spice to your meals may cause the effects to last longer.

Choosing A Chiropractor for you condition........

The title of this blog doesn't even make since...but there is a reason Why I wrote it. See, a lot of people think that Chiropractors work with neck pain, back pain...stuff like that. And while it is true that we do "help" with that stuff...there is so much more to Chiropractic than having pain.

Chiropractic is about keeping your lifeline,-your spine working properly...this lifeline controls everything in your body. So let's say you have problems breathing. Or your child has the symptom commonly termed asthma. Now, let's say you were to bring him or her into my office, we would adjust his spine, and IF the nerve that is going to his lungs was pinched, then unpinched, the lungs would obviously work better. This is how Chiropractic works. Every organ in your body has nerves that go to it, and by adjusting the bones that allow the nervous system pass through them, we take pressure off the nervous system, and the body can once again function normally. How long would you like your nervous system to function at its peak??? That's really the question.

So, do we help with back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, ........yes of course...but the idea is to keep the body functioning. The problem is that most Chiropractors (unfortunately) get out of school with this knowledge, but they listen to "practice consultants" that lie to them and teach them to "abuse" your insurance coverage, and charge you outrageous fees to "make them money" and hurt your wallet.

This makes me sick. I really don't like the idea of a patient coming into my office with the idea of "how long is this going to take to get rid of my headaches"?

I really don't have any idea. However, when your nervous system is working properly, I have a feeling that the headaches will dissipate.

So, if your looking for a Chiropractor who will take care of you like he likes to be taken care of, give me a call...we have plans that go as low as $49.00 a month.. we look forward to seeing you soon.

What do batteries and Chiropractic have to do with each other?

Today's topic is batteries. We have to have them to make things work. However, have you ever put the batteries in wrong? How well does that remote work? Not well right? The reason is that although the battery is in there, the chemistry is all wrong. You have to have positive going toward the positive side.

The body works the same way. We know that the body is controlled by the nervous system, and if there is a choke, or a pinch on the nervous system, how well do you think the end product, aka the heart or liver will function? Not as well right? Just like batteries, it screws up the chemistry and things don't function as well. This is the true purpose of Chiropractic. It's not really back pain, or neck pain...although a common misconception, and what most Chiropractors focus on, it's not really what Chiropractic is about. I feel that our office excels at the basics of Chiropractic. We don't add in all the therapy's or vitamins or anything like that. We practice very straight Chiropractic. We also make it very affordable to get into a routine of checking your nervous system on a regular basis.

Honestly, I can't imagine not getting adjusted. I really feel sorry for the children out there not keeping the pressure off of their nervous system. All children can benefit from getting adjusted. We see children all day in our practice. If your interested in getting adjusted, or having your children adjusted, give us a call. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
